Renaissance Custom Fittings

All components of a Renaissance gown can be custom made to suit you.  Fabrics, trims and gown details can all be just as you wish.  From a gown made entirely by hand with only period correct fabrics and details, to a one with a more modest pocketbook in mind, we always make certain that you will look your best and be comfortable.

There are two options for the bodice being offered at this time:

One is to simply send us your measurements, and we will make a gown from these.

Or for those wishing a more exacting fit, a mockup of the bodice will be sent to you which can be fit directly on you, to make certain that everything is correct.  On occasion a second mockup will be sent to ensure that the changes requested are desired.

While both options are available to all, it should be pointed out that the more exacting the fit, the more time there is involved.  Thus there will be added charges.

We have had great success making custom gowns without needing to do a mockup but we also have clients who find this service to be to their liking.

If there are other garments that need special fitting, we will then work together to make  suitable adjustments.

Typically skirts come unhemmed and ready for final finishing.  It is very difficult to get a proper hem with out fitting the skirt directly on the client.  On occasion we do hem to fore-panels because if they are made with trims at the bottom.

Measurements

If you care about the fit of your garments I can not stress enough the importance of accurate measurements.  Therefore please use a cloth measuring tape!  Do not use a ruler, metal tape or extension cord.  Do not have your dog, no matter how intelligent to help you measure, use a human.  We can only work with the measurements you give us, if they are not accurate your bodice will not fit correctly.  Please do not round off the numbers.

1.  Waist (At the smallest part)

2.  From your waist in line with your belly button up to the hollow of your neck.

3.  From the your waist (at the side) to your arm pit where you would like the arm hole to start.  Remember that you do not want a big arm hole but it also should not be so small you can not move your arms)

4.  Chest measurement at the widest part.

5.  Measure the distance from your shoulder tip (The little round bone that sticks out) directly across to your neck.

6.  Measure the rise from the hollow of your neck to the shoulder tip.  (This will be at a slight angle).

7.   Shoulder to shoulder tip front.

8.  Shoulder to shoulder tip back.
